Topper

It is constructed with two cut wood strings that sit underneath the treads. You can also specify the position of the supporting strings under the treads, offsetting them to the edge of the treads so the treads over hang each side or move the strings flush to the edge of the treads, to suit your different design requirements.

The Topper is a bespoke staircase that is extremely versatile it can be configured with winders, half and quarter landings.

Conforms to UK building regulations

This cut string staircase works well when specifying 40mm thickness treads and 40mm thickness risers as the tread edges are exposed.

For an open rise staircase, building regulations require the gap between treads to be less than 100mm. Therefore, a 40mm thickness tread will require a step nose. We also offer thicker tread options.

Materials & Finishes

Treads are made from a variety of hardwoods: Ash, Birch, Oak, Mahogany, Teak or Walnut. Natural woods are chosen for their strength and durability, and can be stained or painted to any colour of your choice. We offer an extensive selection of stains and painted finishes which provide a durable finish, whilst still retaining the unique, natural properties of the wood.

Glass balustrades are a popular choice with this style to create a contemporary look. A good choice of balustrade on the Topper staircase is 8+8mm frameless glass with the glass cut and embedded into the treads. See our Weybridge Case Study where we used this combination on a closed rise Topper staircase with bespoke under stair storgage in doors the same colour as the treads.

We have also made variations of this staircase with parapet walls, steel spindles and tension wires. We can colour match to the steel string or timber treads.

Choose from a variety of handrail designs, in natural woods or steel to match or contrast with your treads and to add a finishing touch to your stair design.

Sizes

Our standard door leaf sizes range between: 1981mm - 2500mm height, 626mm -1026mm width. Made to Measure door leaf sizes are up to: 2900mm height, 1300mm width. Please ask for more details: info@zakuna.co.uk

Fire Door Options

Zakuna doors can be manufactured with FD30 or FD60 cores. As well as smoke seals, thresholds and intumescent strips installed within the door where necessary. If you require a self-closer for FD30S and FD60S, our hidden hinges can be upgraded to have a hidden self-closing mechanism within the frame and door, with no visible difference to our standard hidden hinges.

Door leaf thickness for Fire Rated Doors are 45mm for FD30, 52mm for FD60.

Installation

Our Pre-hung Interior Door Sets are easy to install, reducing labour, time and cost on site, in comparison to tradition methods. Door leaves, frames, linings and architraves are unassembled and supplied loose for on-site assembly. Installation instructions, fittings and fixings are provided. Our recommended consumables can be supplied as an option. We also offer a full installation service.

This includes consultation to determine the design and specification to suit your requirements and budget. Our aim is to make the entire process as simple and practical as possible, offering a site survey and solutions to the challenges presented by complex design issues, building regulations and installation systems.
